Save the Sound is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, protection, and appreciation of Long Island Sound and its watershed through advocacy, education and research.


The Long Island Sound Study (LISS) is a cooperative effort involving researchers, regulators, user groups and other concerned organizations and individuals working together to protect and improve the health of the Sound by implementing the Sound's Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan completed in 1994.

Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG) collaborates with maritime industries and coastal communities to identify needs, and fund research, outreach, and educational activities that have special relevance to Connecticut and Long Island Sound. 


The New York Sea Grant College Program (NYSG) is one of 30 National Sea Grant College Programs. Created by Congress in 1966, Sea Grant combines university, government, business and industry expertise to address coastal and Great Lakes needs. Funding is provided by New York State through the SUNY and Cornell University educational systems and federally by the parent agency of the U. S. Department of Commerce, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). 


Schooner is a private, non-profit marine education organization dedicated to the conservation of the environment, particularly Long Island Sound and the rivers of Connecticut, and appreciation of their culture, history and future.
