Master of Social Work and Master of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies (MSW/MA) is a 72-credit dual-degree program that may be completed in three years.
MSW/MA students integrate research and theory from Women 每日大赛入口 鈥 .檚 and Gender Studies with their professional social work education. MSW/MA students complete requirements for the MSW 每日大赛入口 鈥 .擟linical Practice degree or the MSW 每日大赛入口 鈥 .擟ommunity Practice: Community Organization, Policy, and Leadership degree. Academic courses, field practice experiences, and mentoring relationships afford interdisciplinary opportunities for scholarly inquiry, critical problem solving, and leadership development.
Supported by faculty advisors from both the MSW and the Women's and Gender Studies programs, MSW/MA students are responsible for meeting the academic, professional, and field practice standards of both the MSW and the MA programs. The curriculum includes two years of field practice (1,100 hours or about 20 to 22 hours per week) and interdisciplinary capstone research.
Applications are accepted from September 1 through December 31 for admission in the fall semester of the following year.
MSW/MA graduates are qualified for professional social work positions in public and private agencies at the local, state, and national levels, and for applying for the State of Connecticut LMSW Licensure Examination shortly after graduation.
The MSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
