Candidates who are already certified teachers but who are not seeking an advanced degree can take just the courses required for certification as a reading specialist. These courses prepare you to provide literacy intervention for students in grades 1-12 who are experiencing reading and writing difficulties due to disabilities, including dyslexia, or other reasons. There are eight courses (24 credits) in this program.

A Remedial Reading and Language Arts Graduate Certificate prepares educators to support students struggling with literacy through targeted instruction and intervention. Graduates are qualified for roles such as reading interventionist, remedial reading teacher, literacy tutor, or Title I reading instructor. They may work in K ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú †.“12 schools, literacy centers, or after-school programs, delivering evidence-based reading strategies to help students improve comprehension, fluency, and writing skills. This certificate also enhances a teacher ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú †.™s ability to collaborate with colleagues and tailor instruction to meet diverse learner needs. It can serve as a pathway to roles like reading specialist or literacy coach with further credentials or experience.
