Earn your advanced degree in reading through our flexible and affordable programs. As the largest teacher preparation program in the state, ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú plays a leading role in educator preparation and professional development.

Candidates for the M.S. in Reading are already certified teachers (in areas such as elementary education, special education, or grades 7 ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú †.“12 social studies, English, etc.) who seek to deepen their professional knowledge and practice in reading for students in grades 1 ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú †.“12. A Master of Science degree in Reading leads to eligibility for certification as a Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts Specialist (102).

Our candidates build on their teaching expertise by studying typical and atypical literacy development, best practices in intervention, and instruction for students with learning difficulties or disabilities ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú †.”including dyslexia. Coursework also addresses discipline-specific literacies and the literacy acquisition of English learners.

Careers

A Master of Science degree in remedial reading and language arts prepares graduates for specialized careers in literacy education.
